Founded in 2005, Firefighters began as a homeless outreach team. We now offer the following services:

Our Homelessness team consists of a group of local volunteers who meet up once a month or on request  to give food and drink to the homeless on our streets, we also network with other local organisations to visit the homeless in shelters and offer friendship and support. To ensure a continuous presence, volunteers choose to register to go out at other times usually in pairs. This is a great way to make new friends and support our local community at the same time.

We offer a FREE 2-hour telephone support line four days a week SAT/SUN/MON/TUES 7pm-9pm.

We are here to be a 'supportive friend' for people who feel overwhelmed and under supported.  Our operators work in the strictest confidence and will do our best to help you. If we are unable to assist we can signpost you to other organisations that can help.

If you are in distress you do not need to suffer in silence Please call 0800 3689773, outside of scheduled support times you can leave a message and one of our volunteers will call you back

Whether you are feeling isolated, depressed, alone or just need a friendly listening ear we are available to help. We adopt a supportive and non-judgemental approach.

Our outreach team offers a direct befriending service to the community. This could be anything from visiting an elderly neighbour, to having a coffee with a single parent who feels overwhelmed. If you are sick and in hospital and have no visitors, with your permission a Firefighters volunteer will attend and offer you a friendly face and a chat.  All of our volunteers are DBS checked and help because they genuinely care. Please also subscribe to our site so that you can be made aware of our community events.
